I was wondering if anyone liked this type of movie as much as I do. Movies like Usual Suspects, Confidence, Matchstick Men. I just rented Matchstick Men and watched it for the first time and, to be honest, I don’t understand why this movie didn’t get more press when it came out in theatres.
For anyone who hasn’t seen these movies they are basically movies about con artists or criminals and they usually have some sort of a huge twist in the plot. I personally love all three movies and just wanted to see if anyone here at the forum shared my opinion.
Usual Suspects is one of my favorites…haven’t seen Matchstick Men yet, but it’s on my list. I wish there were more movies like this being made, but I guess they don’t make enough money so nobody will make them. It’s kind of sad that garbage like Scooby-Doo 2 and Fast and the Furious kill at the box office, but a lot of really good flicks get totally passed over.
I was actually suprised at how good Matchstick Men was. I just picked it up because my g/f is out of town for the week and I was bored so i figured I would drop $4 on it. Turns out that it was a lot better than I thought. Definately one of those movies that makes you go, “What the ****!?”
I don’t even have a blockbuster around here. Nearest BB is 45 minutes away… You would think with it being a college town and all that they would have a store… but no! I’m stuck with King Video and Hollywood Video. Both of which suck! Terrible selection…
Matchstick men is a great movie. So is Usual Suspects.
Steer clear of Heist though, with Gene Hackman. Too many twists, I sat through the credits waiting for another one. It just got too confusing, plus you didn’t care about the characters so you didn’t care who was conning who.
Even Gene Hackman, Sam Rockwell, Delroy Lindo and Danny DeVito couldn’t save this movie.
Haven’t seen Usual Suspects yet, but I will definitely pick it up the next time I’m at the store. Matchstick Men is one of the best con movies and some of the stunts they pulled truly inspires me to become a con artist for a while.
