Cool night

i just got home from walking at the American cancer society walk. I walked 12 miles. There where over 2 thousand people there. Its to raise money for the cancer research. There are a bunch of teams, and at least one member of each team has to be on the track all night. And they can switch off when the need to.

It was really cool when they shut off the lights, and they played Amazing Grace with a bag pipe. And we walked around the track once. They had luminaries (SP) they where candles in a bag that where dedicated to the victims of cancer. They surrounded the track.

It was a great night, To bad i couldnt stay over night, i had to leave because my brother has to work tomorrow.

We raised alot of money for the research to a cure for cancer.:thumb: :A+:

That’s good to hear. Cancer is cool. I wish I’d donated money to help the poor thing. I hear scientists have been trying to kill it for years. :P:P:P

EDIT:

Chicken**** eh? Well, that was pretty rude, mr. don’t be rude.

I left because I was probably wandering around looking for a way to connect my PC to my Xbox.

I’m sorry if I offended anyone with my joke. I know for some people it’s a sensitive subject, but that didn’t come to mind.

Honest to god, I do care about Cancer and science’s attempts to cure it. When canvasser’s come to my door, if I don’t have change in my pocket, I steal it from my mom.

I hope my trying to make light of a terrible thing can be accepted or forgiven, because it was only that, a joke.

Sorry again.

Cancer ain’t cool !! Fighting cancer, thats cool.

ALEX good for you … that’s highly cool of you …

Aislin??? wtf man … maybe one cannot really appreciate how valuable life is until one experiences the closeness of death.

Aislin:

Do you think before you hit the reply button?

My mother died from Cancer 9/10/01 …

There is nothing to joke about that subject.

I did not think you were that insensitive.

shame…

[edit] and chickensh**it for leaving immediately after making that stooopid statement[/edit]

Rev

Rev, I am really sorry to hear about that.

They will find a cure soon, hopefully.

It was a truely tuching night.

thanks Alex…

it is extremely strange to lose a family member, and another to have the rest of your world change the next day as well.

Things will never be the same again…

Rev

im really sorry you guys… i dont know what its like to lose close family members or anything… but yeah… I really hope the best for you guys… sory to hear about that

My cousin died off lukemia(sp?). Cancer really is hard to live with…

It’s pretty good though what you did alex

wtf? methinks Aislin didnt ACTUALLY mean cancer is cool. christ maybe aislin meant support cancer is cool? jeez :-\ benefit of the doubt anyone? :-\

Awesome alex  12 miles is a fairly long distance to walk. Hope the temperature wasn’t too hot. I bet Aislin probably meant to say “isn’t” and forgot the “n’t” in his post…we will only find out when he comes back.

Sorry to hear about that rev :frowning:

Cheers!
Kirupa :beard:

Well done Alex :thumb:

Excellent Alex! My mother and I worked the Relay for Life when it was done here. It is for a good cause, they did it at the college my mother works at. All the students and staff were out there on the track walking, they pitched tents on the campus so people who were not walking could sleep if they needed to. There was food, and they had live local bands play. All in all it was a good time for a great cause.

Cheers!

as my brother said, “He lost the battle, But he won the war”

:frowning:

Congrats alex, i have done Realy for Life in the past but this year i couldnt due to plans that conflicted, it is really touching but also happy at the same time because you know you are helping others, but sad because of what it has done to so many.

Rev very sorry to hear about that, best of luck.

no you dont, because you have no idea if it was a typo, or if he meant something else :-\

asphalt:

reread Aislin’s post quoted above, and I think you will agree with the rest of us. This isn’t a typo, it is a stupid and insensitive attempt at humor (hence the smilies) .

I wish I’d donated money to help the poor thing (cancer).

The lack of tact and taste is apalling.

Rev

well, personally, I think waiting for a response from Aislin would be a much better idea.

reread it like rev said, it was intended to be written that way.
