Crisp Graphics

Hi guys,

I was wondering what is the best format to save images at so when the are imported they are crisp. I was told that png images are good for that, or png 24…is that true?

Also, I often see sites where the text buttons are very crisp looking and not blurry. How can I go about creating something like that as well? Is it best to import graphics from Illustrator?

Thanks,

Lior

your images will look as good as the original if you turn off smoothing, etc - open the Library, right click your imported image, choose Properties. change those settings to make your graphics stay crisp.

PNG is generally a good choice, but without smoothing it really doesn’t matter as far as i can tell.

PNGs aren’t necessarily a good choice all the time, they’re a bit bulky on file size. I only use PNG if my images are complex and has transparencies, otherwise I’ll use JPGs.

Also GIF is another choice you can use as well if your images are simple like line art.

i would add that 8-bit PNGs are the exact same size as a GIF when the original image uses less than 256 colors… and PNGs still have much nicer transparency options than the GIF format. if only silly Internet Explorer would render them correctly…!
