I have to say, despite I know my getting in some pretty heated debates with different people in the AS3 community, over all the users found here and on Actionscript.org are PHENOMENAL!
Some may snub their noses at you guys because you write AS3 (I know not everyone on Kirupa is Flash coders, but it is the largest community I see here), but ■■■■ are you guys nicer… probably why they snub you, and you don’t snub back.
In the past 5 months I’ve been writing .Net code for my job. As usual I pick up forums related to the stuff I’m working on at any given moment to assist me in the learning process…
I’m used to coming across some horrible experiences, but nothing to bad in the tech world (of course fan based forums are a different story, flame wars galore in those places). Still though the AS3 forums I’ve frequented have always had top notch communities with people rarely getting all twisted about each other, even in debates they may get slightly upset, but never hold any grudge about it.
But alas I’ve joined two forums related to .Net. And both of them came with horrible experiences, the worst by far I have to say.
I today just had someone get upset because I corrected a flaw in their algorithm for solving the “age of a person based on a string representation of their birthdate”.
And in turn got accused of plagiarism!
Yes I supposedly plagiarized a 5 line snippet of code… really?
Anyone else here have any horrible experiences on other forums and just keep coming back to this community here (I’m speaking mostly of Kirupa and Actionscript.org)
