Ngl a lot of these “CIA magic sensor” stories feel like gamers talking about wallhacks — there’s usually a boring explanation like radar + signal processing + a ton of constraints. the debunk angle is refreshing because it reminds people “works in a lab demo” isn’t the same thing as “works through any wall on a random street. ”

Yeah, the “works in a lab demo” bit is doing a lot of heavy lifting in these stories — the constraints are basically the whole story. Once you add real walls, weird angles, other moving stuff (fans, traffic, people shifting weight), it turns from “spy magic” into “finicky sensor with a decent demo reel. ”
