As there is not Dreamweaver forum… or anythign like it…
I made a webpage in Fireworks… and I export it to dreamweaver with slices and everything… now I want to center the whole page in the middle. I asked around before… and it seemed it just messed up all my slices… so I gave up…
1 - CTRL A to select all of the code/image (try to get used to using the code to select stuff, or at least select the item by the name in the lower right, right above the properties window), then CRTL X to cut the entire contents.
Help me out with this: When I enter Text in to layers and drag them on top of those images. When I preview the page all of the have shifted…?
Heres the link… I just shifted all the text when working in it… still dont know why its weird… can u tell me how to get rid of this border looking like that… I moved it in Dreamweaver but its still appears like that!
layers r baaaaaadd! That’s because layers a positioned like 200pxls from the left and 300 pxls from the top but When you test it in dreamweaver the page are is bigger so all the layers will be shifted … usually to the left and to the top. So never use layers unless they are in the top left corner of a frame
I agree grim - if there was some kind of standard on how they were treated, you could do some amazing stuff. We touched on them in class last year and I was like “holy crap this would make things sooooo much easier!” but then found out how evil other browsers were…
I made a site using just layers, (it was a simple site mind) and then i found out about how evil different browsers were - especially AOL (i will curse AOL to the end of my days…).
Eventually i did the whole thing again in tables. Layers would be fantastic to work with if there was some kind of standard. Doubt it matters much now though, the whole of the web will be flashified one day…
a table or a layer??? the problem is that netscape reads layers as div and IE reads them as span or the other way around im not sure as to which is right but each browser reads them diffrently, what i used to do back in the days was desing the website for netscape and the same website make it compatible with ie. its a big pain tahts why i said layers are evil EVIL I SAY
I put my whole webpage in a table to keep it centered… and it appears off in netscape… or netscape type browsers… its all out of proportion for some reson and I cant fix it…
um since its all slice up you have to make 1 table with the slices and make sure you set its width and height by pixels so it wont get distorted now select that table and press ctrl+x not insert a new table click inside it and set its horizontal to center, and change its width and height to 100%, now press ctrl+v and you will paste the table you cutted into another table preview it it should be nicely centered if not rar or zip up the slices with the html so i can fix it for ya :beam:
