Dynamic content viewer

I’m breaking a rule here, in that I haven’t offerred much constructive criticism to others yet. Maybe I will from now on. But I have a feeling that some of you would be willing to critique this thing anyway.

I’m currently designing the interface for a museum kiosk, which offers mostly non-interactive content to visitors. Rather than boxing out a geometric layout, we’ve been working to produce something with a more organic feel (the kiosk will be in the life science wing of the museum), and have put together a prototype, which I’ve been permitted to show you.

The content has been replaced with placeholders. We haven’t done much work on the current appearance of the content, but are open to suggestions. Most importantly, though, is the interface’s feel. Is this a kiosk you would use?

The hardware that this SWF will run on is a Mac mini, Intel Core Duo with 2 gigs of RAM. It runs slowly on my G4, so don’t be shocked if it lags somewhat. (Some advice in that department, however, would be appreciated. The screen rez will be at least 1024x768, though the videos won’t be much larger than 800 pixels to a side. All the content will load from the local directory when the Flash Player launches (rather than the current networked setup).
