I’m trying to make a nav menu and I am using a mask, I have dynamic text boxes which will offer descriptions of the various button. The problem is that when i run the swf the dynamic text simply does not appear

I had the same problem 
You need to embed the font outlines. Go to the properties inspector for your textfield, click on character and embed the font outlines for all characters. Hope that helped!

can i ask u something which is out of this topic ? i want to use a font (which i downloaded) as the users will have download the same font so that they can see it . if i break them up will be they able to see it !
If you break the text up then yes they will be able to see it. Kirupa did the same thing to the pixel font on the navigation bar of this forum.
