I saw this tutorial not too long ago, and i saw the author’s example of how the glass button can be made to look even better with some more gradients outside of it, you can see an example here .
I was trying to acheive the effect outside of the glass button, the two bevel/gradients. I know how to acheive the one on the inside, but the outer one, the one which fades out, i do not know how to acheive this. I would be very grateful for any help on how to acheive this. Thank you.

What I would do is ctrl click the layer with the button on it to grab the selection, then I would go select>>modify>> expand and make it like 10 or 12 pixels. Then make the gray to light gray gradient, then gaussian blur it
Here’s what i got, Thanks for the help. I can play around with this now and try getting better effects out of it. When i was trying to fill in the inner gradient/bevel, i would go Select>Modify>Border, and i would say 3 pixels, and when i fill the gradient in and deselect, it would come out all scratchy, the second pic is the pixelated one, and the first i had to blur with the blur tool.
hey ill tell you how to fix it
create a new layer on top of your button layer, go edit>>stroke, select 2 or 3 pixels, color doesnt matter
then select the stroke layer by control clicking it
afterwards, create a new layer on top of the stroke layer and fill it with your gradient
then delete the original non-gradient-afied layer.
It should be smooth:)
Thanks, i tried your tip and it still looked a little pixeled. So until i can find better methods, I’ll put the Resolution up on my next projects to about 110, and then i’ll resize the buttons so that more detail is put in and the pixels are gone. Thanks for all the help today.
