I finally did my first 3d model. I used Maya because I actually found it to be more intuitive than max (for someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. . . me). I needed a lighthouse for one of the websites I’m working on. Yeah, it’s a little stupid to go through all the work of making a 3d model just for a few small images. But, it gave me an excuse to learn my way around maya.
So, anyway, it’s based off the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, though, it’s definetly not accurate on many details. I didn’t worry about matching exact scale, colors and details. It has plenty of mistakes, but it will serve its purpose. I really had no idea what I was doing with the materials. I was just playing around until things looked sorta close. I wanted to add some lighting effects but couldn’t really get it to work.
Well, anyway, there it is. It’s not real good, but it’s a start. . .
