Flash Image Quality

Hey there…
Well, i have a question about image quality in flash. I have made a layout in photoshop 6 and i have imported it into flash. This consists of background layout and an image. I use geocities to host my site…

But for some reason, when i view it in the browser… the image quailty drops dramtically from what it was in photoshop. Is there anything that i can do that will maintain picture quality?

Here’s the site:

I use dreamweaver mx to import the swf… giving the swf parameters so it wont stretch… but for some reason, on some computers it streches my site… and on others it doesnt.

Can anyone help me?

Flash has a default compression on images which reduces the quality sometimes.

What you need to do is open up your .fla, go into the library (CTRL+L), right click on the image you imported, then go to Properties and mess around in there.

This does effect your file size, so be wise

What do u mean?

When i go to properties it just comes up with graphics, movie and button. What exactly am i suppose to play around with?

Can u please be more specific?

Thats because you are going into the properties of a movie clip, button, or graphic symbol.

When you import the graphic into Flash you can find it in the library. You need to right click on the image itself (the icon next to it will be a tree) and go to the properties of that directly. There will be quality settings in there.

Ahhh… Thanks mate, that helped! my quality was only 50%… i made it 100%…

would that affect the size of the swf?

Yes, it does affect the size of the .swf file.

Flash automatically puts it at 50% compression.

The higher the quality you make it, the higher the file size, and the opposite goes for the lower you make it.

Depending on the image, it could raise it a lot or a little.

No worries mate…
thanks heaps…
