This may seem like a silly question…I have created a movie, about 100k with a preloader. When I upload my movie and view it online it takes ages to load and then briefly shows the preloader at about 85% loaded. Ideally I want the prelaoder to appear immediately and I can’t understand why it isn’t…any ideas?
ok
- how big is your preloader
2)where did u place the preloader
3)how about droping a link to your site
The main movie is 346k and the preloader is in the first scene on its own. The site is in progress but you can look at www.greymattercomms.com/grey_newest.html and see what happens!
Thanks!
well to tell u the truth i think its just two small of a site to test the preloader.
Try droping a big Jpeg or somthing in to the movie and then test it in flash using the bandwith profiler
Let me know if that helps
What’s on the preloading scene? Any large image?
I had the same thing happen to me, and it was because I had a large image placed on the preloading scene. The progress bar would appear only once that image was loaded…half way through the loading process. To have the progress bar appear right away, try and keep the preloading scene as minimal as possible in terms of graphics.
i had the same problem! i still can’t figure out what’s the deal! the preloader is small, the file size is about 380kb, and it loads the movie and then plays! i need some help as well. i think it’s something they did in Flash MX because when i used to use Flash 5 i never had this problem.
Thanks all of you…■■■■ its annoying! I reckon it could be something to do with MX cos the same preloader worked fine with flash 5…weird. Well if anyone hears anything let me know! Thanks again!
just a possiblity…
maybe you are selecting the “export in first frame” option when converting to symbol. if you do that … the movie won’t show anything until those movie clips or buttons are loaded.
yes…but if i take it off it they don’t work! unless there’s something else i can do?
the movie would work perfectly … how many things could you have in your preloader? bar, percent, rate, time?? how long would it take to load those things? the user won’t even note it.
anyway … what I meant to say is that possibly you might have all of your movie clips or buttons with that option selected. if so and you don’t want to change it … excuse me but your preloader is completely useless. you should select that option only for the necessary to get the preloader working.
i didn’t choose it for all of them, just the sound files. but i figured it out. i can load the sounds dynamically and the preloader works fine. but i don’t understand why they did that in MX? i never had a problem with preloaders in 5. oh well…sigh…
