If I’m not mistaken, doesn’t the player get included when you convert your movie to a exe file for CDs?
Maybe not. Becuz after posting I went to Macromedia’s website and you need to fill out a form and have an existing company in order to get a license to use it. So it seems anyway. Very late and I am snoozing.
thnx
dave
Hmm…that’s wierd why would you need a license to use something that is free? I’ve made interactive CD’s before and it worked for me.
Yeah, when you create a prjector you don’t need the flash player installed for it to work.
So you are saying I can download the Flash Player executable to my cd? My main concern is with users who do not have the flash player because this is only a cd I want to use completely independent of the internet.
Yes, then it does not need any software to run it. It acts as a program itself.
When you convert your movie to a projector file, the player is included with that exe file. Everything will be part of that CD so there’s no need to download or install the player because its all on the CD.
yeah - the projector or (exe) file is an already packaged file ready to go… just create a projector, put it on your cd, and anyone can view it regardless
I guess my next question would be how to create a projector file.
Is it in Flash or a separate app. I don’t remember seeing that option.
thnx
Go to File > Publish Settings and there’s a check box for it. Check it and click OK.
Yep
I did go back and checked.
Thanks very much guys! Exactly what I needed.
Dave
No problem. =)
Keep in mind that Flash MX can now export both windows and mac projectors. So keep us Mac guys in mind. Put them both on your CD and burn it with ISO 9660 mode so that it is multiplatform and then really anone can see it.
Yes I did.
thnx again
dave
Wait a minute. I thought both platforms could read the same executable. You said both. I checked both boxes if that’s what u meant.
dave
So now I know it did not work. The Mac was not able to read the cd. Any help?
Thanks
dave
No, flash will export a different file for each platform. The windows version will be YourMovie.exe, and the mac version will not display a file extension, it will just show the movie name. The windows can only be played on windows, and the mac only on mac. But you can label each file appropriately and put them both on your CD. And make sure to create the CD in a multiplatform mode, like ISO 9660.
Oh so in other words create two separate platform versions on the same cd.
They shouldn’t have the check mark for both platforms available. I had checked them both but only got apc version cd.
I’ll try again
I am using BHA CD burner with a Sony burner. I’ll check the iso 9660 format on it.
thnx
dave
Sorry for the rush guys. I am moving back east tomorrow and was hoping to get this done before. Will try again in about a week or two.
thnx
