Flash vs Director vs TGB for offline games

Hi guys,

I was just about to buy Macromedia Director, to do CD-based games (small educational games). I have already previously made such a thing using Flash. I don’t know how it will turn out using Director though. What’s encouraging me, is the fact that using Director, it will be much faster and powerful on a PC, since Flash is targetted mainly for the web. Just yesterday, I came across this: http://www.garagegames.com/products/torque/tgb (Torque Game Builder) and I felt that it’s much more appropriate than Director. At the end, what I’m trying to show you, is how confused I am
That game builder is much much cheaper than Director (Director is>$1000 , I dont know why it’s that expensive). Which option should I go for? How will Director be more useful to me?

Thanks!
