I see what you mean about the line dominating, I tried thinning the lines on my dragon and changing stroke colors to more closely match the ares they defined .
Cheers
Yeah, that works. I found that a lightish grey was quite good as a stroke colour. It separated everything, but wasn’t too extreme.
I prefer just to get rid of the lot though. It makes it easier for me to tell if I’ve defined everything well enough. If I can’t see where limbs etc start and end then I need to work on the picture and shading more.

I was not aware of the gradient fill being a nono. I figured that the
limitation of the battle was solely Flash ( gradients and alpha levels included)
with that said I don’t mind forfeiting my art , wish you would have posted that last week. had fun with the dragon stuff though, so no big loss. **
does he have to forfeit? he didn’t even know about those rules…mercy!!
I’m sorry. I really hate to do this, but I am going to have to bow out. My computer is seriously fudged up. We were attempting to put in a 1.8 gHz on my motherboard. Apparently my motherboard didn’t like that, so it fried out, and it took the processor and the power supply with it. Now I have to wait for more parts to come in. I won’t have my computer back until at least next thursday (at that is if I’m lucky).
Sucks too because I had my images all drawn up. I was finally happy with them after re-drawing them 50 times. Good luck to all the rest of you
I really feel bad about having to forfeit.
oh man that really sucks…at least none of clients work went with it… :sigh: I:-)
Actually, my harddrive may have been burned out too. Hopefully I will be able to recover my files. Or else all of my client work is gone as well I’m hoping that the data recovery works… :-\

Don’t be silly - that’s just my definition of ‘pure’ line art. This battle is about what you can do with it in Flash, so your entry is perfectly acceptable. Besides, if you look at my entry then you’ll see I’ve used a gradient fill myself in there, so I’d have to drop out too. Your entry is more than welcome.
This is the only category I could possibly battle in so I am relieved.
I am a flasher wannabe but have" next to no" skills in scripting, really admire you hard core guys. Hoping to pick up enuff tips on this site to get me moving
on a website with good navigation and design.
you guys inspire me
Cool.
Anyway, there’s nowt wrong with the occasional gradient fill. Nowt at all.
I unfortunately have to cut myself out of this match-up as well…
I hate doing this… But my scanner will not (repeats this after beating the living crap out of his scanner) WILL NOT work correctly… If I can get a friend to scan mydrawing before the due date I’ll throw it up… Unfortunately for now… I’m forfeited…
Me sorrie guys… Was looking forward to presenting you with my drawing… Oh well…
Good Luck to the rest of you.
I would really like to see drawings even if they weren’t taken to finish.
would be a shame to widdle down such a popular battle, seemed to be at least 5 contestants when it started.
no pressure
Unrelated question-
if I had an Fla that is say version 4 or 5 which forum should i submit sample for discussion. The fla is a photo gallery that has a timer so the images fade in and out until a button triggers a specific image ( say image 4 of 10 ) and if a short interval passed with no more triggering then the fades would begin again, possibly random.
didn’t mean to run on
Once I get my computer back I will upload the image that I was going to submit so that you can see what I would have done.
Kit: I am planning a rematch against you! :P:)
If I can ever get this scanner or another scanner at some point. I’ll show you my drawing…
Peace

in kirupaforum’s of course! in the flash 5 section you will probably get a response…if you need help with 4 i have no idea where to get help for flash 4
…an acceptable submission?
I know today is deadline for line art battle , but I will be away from computer
and till now haven’t found suitable file format.
Good luck to everyone!
By the way Mak, my inquiry before may not have been clear.
The fla I have ( the flash 4/5 photo gallery…) is interesting , I just wanted
to find out if it could be revamped in Flash MX.
I will find the fla in question and post it tonight.
OK, I’ll post the poll up for the battle votes today. I think it’s just ribcage and myself, correct?
In that case, can I have the URL of your entry please, ribcage, and is there anyone out there who can store my entry on their site for a few days? I don’t actually have my own web space, embarrassing as that is for me to admit…
Jubba - I look forward to our meeting in combat… :beam:
Hi Kit ,my link is http://www.robjruiz.com
and I could certainly store your entry along with mine.
sidenote: was looking thru archives last night , ran across the cyborg art
you submitted some time ago…really nice stuff.
Thank you very much.
I’ve attached my entry to this post. If you can tell me the URL of that then we’ll be sorted.
Thanks again.
Oh bugger, I forgot to attach the image…
