October 02, 2003 - Nintendo is ecstatic today, as figures from retailers have shown sales of the GameCube have quadrupled since the reduction of the price to $99.99. Nintendo has indeed acknowledged that this is what retailers and consumers wanted all along, and now the factor holding them back from purchasing a unit has gone, they are doing.
With Nintendo predicting strong results for the holiday season, it will be interesting to see whether the level of sell through is sustainable

**I’m not convinced about the GameCube tbh… The only two games I would buy it for are Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Zelda.
Actually I’ve just remembered that Final Fantasy Tactics is out on the GBA this week. I might have to go and buy one… :sure: **
I am in the same boat… So far I have played every final fantasy, but I don’t have a GC or Game Boy Advance… It my be time to invest. =)
Sen >> Dead link And I’m concerned about that Double Dash thing. I’m a hige fan of the first one, but I really disliked the N64 version. I hope this one is better :-\
I can’t wait for this game… it’s going to be a ton of fun Also, if you are going to pick up the system with Zelda and Mario be sure to get a hold of Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkenss (both exlusives) as they are a amazing. And if you are a Star Wars Freak, you can’t go wrong with Rouge Squardran and Reble Strike - both are the best Star Wars adventure games on the market today!
Heres an interesting little article about nintendo and its current direction for the future with Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo of America vice president of marketing. There are some mentions about how nintendo isnt so much making it in the public eye (as kit’s post seems to dictate) though is learning from it mistakes and will be ready the next time around, or so we are led to believe/hope. Nonetheless, its interesting to note is how Nintendo is “doing financially, and [they’re] clearly No. 1”
