It’s been really difficult coming up with nice layouts when they want their crappy logo to be a dominant element in the design.
I know exactly how you feel. but isnt it nice when you do some work for a company with a kickass logo that just makes your work look so much better 
totally aggree CG - a logo should be versatile first, pretty second ya know?
should look as good single color as it does as a knock out as it does full color, as it does small as it does large etc - OFTEN OVERLOOKED

Sigh, I guess I wasted my time making the logo though. And don’t hate the newbies just because we haven’t been to this site, think of the Gizmodo link as a big promotion for this forum.
Pricewatch recently had a logo competition with 1250+ entries, and they just had the staff pick out the best 25 for the public vote. Not trying to force anyone’s hand, but I made a logo and I like it and I want a 20GB MP3 player 
so I’m suggesting alternatives.
lol. Muted the logo I was speaking of doesn’t actually have a rainbow. It has every colour OF a rainbow.
Also, speaking of logo versatility the one I’m talking about can’t be scaled any smaller than 2" x 2" without making the text illegible. The guy would made it must have been a snake oil salesman in his previous life. lol

This is a battle not a contest. The logos will not be used by gizmodo at all. Even if there were no prize I and a few others were still going to duke it out in this battle. After it was over pack up our images and go home. Nothing has changed except there are more entries (which we have graciously accomodated gizmodo members).
So you did not waste your time. Send me your image ill post it and we will see what happens.

thanks I actually visit kirupa.com quite a lot for all the great flash tutorials, i have even bought a few books, just never visited the forums.
just curious, have you received any entries yet? i wouldnt mind seeing what other people have made up so far…

Hmm… entries are not to be posted in this forum at all. They should all be sent to DDD. As for seeing the entries I think you’ll have to wait until the deadline is up, since this is not a battle where there are volleys involved there is no need to see others, this also reduces the urge to copy someone elses design.
good point, it would be silly to put the entries on a page before the end of the battle. i stand informed.
I will have the url page up tonight and will update the first post in the thread to reflect that. If you want your entry posted a head of time send it to me and I will do so upon receiving it.

Yeah I know. I think the biggest challenge is getting folks to understand why we did it the way we did. And why there has to be restrictions

I mean theoretically you can post your images here, there is nothing stopping you. but for organization sake. And fairness (no ones edits their image) I think the should be housed elsewhere. this is not a normal protocol for a battle but being that people are more interested in the mp3 player than the battle, I think that is fair.

I’m a design n00b (I’m even a real design student at the Corcoran) and probably won’t win, but I’m working on a nice idea that can be really rockin by 8/9, so I’ll jump in to add a little color…

Please read through the posts so you can understand why we did what. It is pretty lame for you to post what you did when you come in a day late and a penny short asking to be in. And this is not a contest for Gizmodo. This is a simple battle, that has been expanded to accomodate the Gizmodo folks. When people do regular battles in this forum, do you go sticking your nose in saying that is lame because Unflux and Silent.Gear want to battle heads up? Zao you are not new to this forum so I would figure you would know better.
And charity? Give me a break.
Hey, just because you wouldn’t do it, doesn’t mean somebody else wouldn’t, so why don’t you give me a break.
It’s funny how quickly you guys turn a mole hill into a mountain, I can’t be in the battle ok fine…I really have no problem with that. I’m just under the impression, from what I have read from MUTED, that if the battle turned out a logo they didn’t like, that they would keep re-doing it. If you want to have a 25 member cut off and take control of the battle, be my guest. Don’t come in here and insult me over something like that. If I was in the battle, and I did win the prize I would infact give the prize to charity, I already have a 40gb ipod, why would I want another mp3 player.
