Glam Rock

Does anybody understand why American’s (where I’m from), in particular, don’t think that singing super high is just the most amazing, manly thing somebody can do. Newer bands today have husky voices, and while they sing high, it just doesn’t seem natural to me. To me, any male should use the voice he should have, which means showing it off by being a super-low bass, or having a really awesome falsetto. Take Freddie Mercury for instance, he was able to sing really high, even though he was technically a baritone, and by most, he is regarded as the best rock singer ever, though people seem to argue between him and Robert Plant a lot.
Who doesn’t like trying to sing the high note in Bohemian Rhapsody (done by Roger Taylor) at the top of their lungs? Who doesn’t wish they could do that, just because it sounds awesome and is the high point of the song?
How aren’t glam rock bands popular anymore or even early American rock bands like Aerosmith and Boston. Sure, people know their music, but bands today that follow in their footsteps just don’t get any recognition. Today it’s all about the biggest bass (not fish, hehe), and the most obvious I-IV-V chord progression.

What are you’re thoughts on all of this?
