i remember reading it, it’s a good story. i also like the movie that they made of it with ted danson.
like all movies made originally from books, they left out a few things, but not much. all of his journeys are beautifully depicted in the movie. and i’m not sure what you mean about the poetic license or something.
The Ted Danson movie was of course almost like any other book to movie, they added some effects and spiced up the story a bit, but from what I remember (came out a while ago), it stuck pretty true to the original story.
As thor said, some things were left out, and others were changed a bit.
The story is great, both book and movie.
