Ok, I’ve really wanted to see that movie the moment I saw a preview on TV. Then the other day, I was at the market and saw a copy of Kings book. I figured what the heck, I can wait to see it till after I read it, and the book version of a story is almost ALWAYS better than the movie version (basically 100% of the time when it comes to Kings stuff–I dont even want to get into how often his sh!t gets hacked). Anyway, I bought it and read 400 (it’s almost 900 in paper-back version) pages the first day, it is really good. I hadnt read S.K. in a while (actually quite a few years) and I was forgetting how much of a master he is. Well the book is top notch – I think I am going to go knock out a few chapters after I post this – so I would recommend you read it, and if you are not willing I am assuming the movie will be super cool as well (Jason Lee is in it, and for me that makes it good right there, and I’ve heard it was brilliantly adapted to the screen without fudging too much on S.K.'s story).
Peace
PS if you’ve seen the trailers for the movie and think, “Oh I kinda know what it is about so reading it wouldn’t be that great”, believe me you dont know jack. Trust me.
The movie was pretty darn good. Not the best…but it was good none the less. I agree, stephen king movies are done badly compared to his book…for the most part. You know who’s are done REALLY badly? dean koontz, I like his books, but man…the movies suck balls
SureShot… musta’ missed that review (doing search now)… I can’t wait to see the movie, esp after the book. I still have 300 pages to go and I already am excited to see how they portray certian parts… anyone read the book??
oh and yeah Koontz gets jipped too… but pretty much all good writters do… you CANNOT compress the emotions and detail of a book into a 2 hour flick, it is IMPOSSIBLE - PERIOD.
Hey ryall, have you ever read “Clive Barker”? specifically a book called “weaveworld”? I would LOVE to see that done as a REALLy good movie. Like stephen spielberg, epic like. its a good book. I recommend it:A+:
