Ha-ha! A story of mine regarding web design

It was like this. My mother used to work at this company. At the time, that company didn’t have a web site so she suggested to her boss that I do the web site for a fee. Of course I was all for it and the boss was rather enthusiastic, but the company that designed their logo started convincing them that they would do a better job than a student (I’m currently in highschool). Well OK, I don’t hold any grudges, but check this out, I found out how much they charged them and then saw what kind of a site they did (:D). They charged them around 2500 € for this site (it’s not in english but you should be able to comprehend its quality and magnitude by looking around and clicking a bit). It’s one site that uses frames and just has like, I don’t know, 4 or 5 sub-pages (for some products). Furthemore, they charge them 800 € per month to update the page as well (:D). Can you believe that?
I’m no design guru, but I can say my designs are pretty decent (for instance this is my personal site in the making), I don’t use frames, and am up to date with the latest w3c standards and everything.
It’s funny how someone pays that much money for that kind of site. I know if I were to do it, that outrageous sum wouldn’t have even crossed my mind for a site that isn’t dynamic and doesn’t use flash or other more advanced technologies.
Hehe.
