Halftime show

Honestly, there is death, war, destruction, terrorism, corporate scandals, murders…

but not the nipple…

Correct me if I am wrong, but in NY its legal for women to show their tops, they won a court case if remeber correctly because their argument was that; there are alot of men with bigger breasts than girls… so why the double standart…

what cracks me up, is that if it weren’t for the wackos making such a stink about it, are making it so every person who wants to see an up close shot of Janet’s nipple, can. Even those who don’t have computer are getting to see printed versions…

if no one had complained, it would have been forgotten by now. However, since people like BlindLizzard are afraid for thier kids to see a nipple on TV, it will always be a hot topic, and gather lots of attention.

So you only have yourself to blame Lizzie…

Rev

Oddly enough…

I was reading through this thread and watching TV at the same time. As I was doing this, some preview for a new DVD that was coming out came on TV. Sorry I can’t remember what DVD it was. They mentioned something about a scene that was on the DVD that was not in the original movie. Then they showed the clip. It was Carmen Electra with a soaking wet t-shirt on. You could see everything, and I do mean everything. This was much more than what janet jackson showed at the half time show.

So having said that, why is the janet jackson thing such a big deal. They show nipples all the time on TV. Remember when lil’ kim wore that god awfull breast exposing dress at the grammy’s?

I just think that if we are going to be worried about something that our kids our going to see, there is alot more to worry about than janet jackson’s 3 second boob flash.

not according to Blindlizzard…

Rev

wow, you guys are a real piece of work…upset that I don’t want my children all under 7 to not see nipples on TV… You are really condeming me because I think my children are too young to watch that stuff? I don’t even know what to say here, so I won’t say anything…

::blindlizard leaves in amazement::

I’m amazed that Lizzie is concerned about anyone of any age seeing a nipple…

what is it going to do, turn your daughter into a prostitute? Make your son a pimp? Make them do drugs? Go insane?

Please tell me what you claim to be protecting your kids from…

none of us are upset, just amazed at your Victorian mindset…

don’t get upset, please explain. If you explain it correctly, with facts, I’ll even change my position…

Rev

dittos for the most part. I think that a parent should be able to control when and where their kids see various subject material. I really just don’t understand why it’s bad to see a nipple. I don’t think that you’re bad for wanting control liz… I’d just like to understand what people who hold your opinion are thinking about on the subject.

I also see that no one has touched my comment above about the inappropriate nature of showing a young man grabbing a womans breast on stage. I’m a little surprised that this doesn’t bother people more than the actual nipple. A nipple is just a peice of the body… the display tells kids all over that it’s alright to grope women’s breasts.

am I wrong?

I agree 100% upu…

I guess I got hung up on Lizzie’s hangups…

Ya, how did Justin Timberlake walk away from this whole thing scott free? You never hear anything about that, and he is the one who did it?

lol… my point exactly. He said ", I’m not into stunts, it just isn’t who I am."
I ask… isn’t reaching across the stage and grabbing a boob on national tv a stunt? It is in my book.

Personaly…if I did what justin did, even at 33, my mother would have come out to Texas and smacked my disrespectful butt all over the state.

I don’t know… I see a lot of disrespect towards women these days. I feel bad that no one has championed against this one except Kurtis Sleawah and Ron Kubie (forgive the spelling please) from WABC radio. These two made me see this arguement I’m touting. I was embarassed that I didn’t see it myself right off the bat.

All in all… as I said, I believe that both Timberlake and Jackson should be procecuted by the laws which were in effect during the halftime show, in the location they were performing, regardless of my personal feelings about the silliness of a nipple causing parents to panic. The law is the law. If you don’t like the law, change it through a legal avenue. People do it all the time.

Janet wanted it! It was a planned! It’s not like he was grabbing a strangers hoo hoo.

In regards to ‘the law is the law,’ *upanaut[i/] I personally only respect the laws that I agree with. I know I’m probably going to take a lot of flak for this but I don’t care. I haven’t registered my bicycle, I park on the street overnight, I don’t come to complete stops at 4-way stops when there aren’t any cars around, and I’ll go fishing and operate a boat without getting the proper licenses (these are all laws where I live). I can’t be bothered with trying to change these laws 'cause I jsut accept the fact that if I get caught I’ll pay the price.

As long as you admit that you will pay the price should you get caught, I have nothing wrong with it! I only get upset when I or family/friends end up paying for others’ mistakes. As long as you take responsibility for your own actions, I have no problems…as long as you don’t do something drastic like rob a bank or something

EDIT: To stay on topic, with MTV producing this show, it shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise. You have a racy tv network using two racy (pun intended ha!) singers singing a duet. Didn’t Justin have a similar encounter with Kylie Minogue during some European awards show?

Janet/Justin simply crossed the line with their performance. I think MTV should be held equally accountable…so should CBS.

so should we take “National Geographic” out of the school library?

Shall we never show “Nanuuk of the North” again?

Shall we never show the Pigmies of New Guinea in thier natural habitat again?

shall we never show the Natives from the Amazon in thier natural habitat until our kids are old enough to see?

so how is showing a nipple to a kid going to “warp” his life?

Rev

lol rev.

‘Nanuuk of the North’ kneeslapping resumes

But Reeeeeev!

Its a NIPPLE, with silver stuff around it… Its horrible!

Nipples are the rust of our society! They are our moral corruption!
Before that most kids didn’t know what ‘nipples’ were! It’s not like they would use internet to look at nipples, no way, never! That “click here if you’re over 18” really works to keep kids out! :sure:

Janet wanted it! It was a planned! It’s not like he was grabbing a strangers hoo hoo.
Irrelivant. The image that was portrayed is what has the impact. That’s like saying that it’s ok to put full penetration on TV as long as the couple is in love. (which might be ok… but not in the present climate)

hey I smoke pot on occation. We all do things which are outside of the societal norms and sometimes outside of the laws. Acceptance of responsibility is important. On the other hand it really does depend upon the law, and why you are breaking it. Not getting a fishing licence is not a problem, 10 million americans not getting their licences is another matter entirely.

just remember that there are consiquences which occure of which you may not be aware… in the end, those can be worse than any fine you had to pay. Acceptance of consiquences also means acceptance of self in the cause of a problem, when those problems arise. Fishing licences, force hunters to take a class which teaches them how not to screw up the environment. The money used goes to clean up waterways and preserves. Maybe it’s just you not getting your licence and nothing will ever happen. But when 10 million people get together and all chose to scoff the law, then you run into problems.

I understand the principal… just make sure that you are breaking the law because it really is a stupid law and not just because you don’t want to have to shell out 20 bucks for the licence. It sounds to me like all of the things you break the law over are purely selfish reasons. Because it’s too much trouble for you to do the right thing. Boo hoo. The rest of us don’t have a problem with most of those laws. They have purpose and meaning.

So I give to you the salute I give to all the selfish.

What the heck is ‘…pthththththth…’?

Personally I don’t see the big deal.
It was just a breast for crying out loud……

I never saw it, would have liked to, but can’t be bothered looking for it……
But then I am a grown man.

If I had a kid and he/she saw that, so what, it’s just a breast.
WHAT, is the kid going to turn around and ask what’s that ?

Ummm, it’s a breast !

What the heck is ‘…pthththththth…’?

pthtththth is the sound made when one places their tongue just slightly through the lips, and blows making the tongue vibrate. Some call this a rasberry.
