so what is everyones opinion on the halftime show of the super bowl? the whole janet jackson/Justin Timberlake boob thing. think legal issues need to be pressed? moral issues? should the performers be allowed on live tv anymore?
how could such famous people make a fool of themselves in front of 89,000 people at the super bowl and the millions of people watching from their tv??? Dont they feel ashamed? And what about parents at home? Do you think that they will let their children be exposed to this “unwanted” CRAP on tv? …i saw that halftime show on a 82’’ tv and it did nOT look pretty… i also think justin and jackson should do something more than an apology
oooo hang on hasn’t Janet got an album coming out???
to throw you a bone
1+1 = maximum publicity
it was a planned publicity stunt. Even if they get fined millions of $$, the publicity she has gained is invaluable.
Plus, it takes the heat off of her brother for a little bit…
Shoot, over 10 years ago she was strutting around in just a bra…
and this isn’t that different than some stuff Brittney or Shakira, or Christina have worn, and these same “kids” that was watching, have on the walls of thier bedrooms…

borg nippleage lol
I can’t believe that everyone seems to be going after Janet, CBS, or MTV. What about Justin Timberlake? He is the one who ripped the thing off right? I haven’t heard anything about how he is to blame.
I think that FCC needs to do whatever the law says. There doesn’t need to be an instigation about who knew what. We all saw what happened. The FCC needs to determine if that broke the indecency laws which I am sure it did. Then once they determine that, penalize CBS. CBS aired it regardless of if they knew it was going to happen. It is/was their responsability to control what they air. If they weren’t sure what was going to happen then they should have time delayed the entire game, or at least the half time show. Talk radio show hosts time delay their shows because they realize people might do something inappropriate at unexpected times.
Regardless of if MTV thought it up, or Jackson, or Timberlake, this was CBS’s responsability, they aired it.
“Clearly seen, please see Janet Jackson is really a Borg unit from outer space thread” roflmao
thank you phil… I needed to laugh.
I’m with Liz. A) the FCC should simply use the laws in place to either procecute or no. B) Texas state procecuters should use whatever Texas laws dictate since it took place in Texas. Dittos to CBS and MTV being the one’s responsible. There’s far too little accountability in these issues already. Start precidents which force the producers to actually lose something if they do this sort of stuff.
anyway… all in all I’d have to say that Janet has rather poor boobage at best. Maybe Phil likes her nipples. I didn’t see them so I can’t say. The breast itself was far less interesting than my own fiance’s that’s for sure.
well you get your fiance to go on national tv show us her nipples and let us decide, lol.
I think everyone that’s outraged by a nipple should take off their shirt and look at their chest. We’ve all got’em, who cares if kids saw that? I think north americans are way too uptight about our bodies and sex in general.
I personally am not offended by a nipple, even Janet Jacksons. I don’t like the idea of my children seening the nipple. If that were something like the Grammy awards where you expect that kind of thing to happen, then no problem. I know not to let my kids watch the grammys. But, who knew to sencor the SuperBowl? Not to mention we have laws against it. Regardless of being offended, it broke FCC laws.
Hey Blind, why wouldn’t you want your children to see it? I’m not being a smartbum, I really want to hear what negative impacts can come out of seeing that.
I’m with you Billmarr, however, current laws should still be enforced. The problem I have is not so much that they showed the breast, but that they made a spectical over a young man reaching over on stage and grasping a woman’s breast. Nudity is not the problem I have with this, but the act and what it says to the children who emulate people like Justin (why anyone would I still haven’t figured out…but they do.)

Well my kids are 6 years old, 3 years old (yesterday was his b-day) and 8 moths old. I don’t mind the 8 month old seeing it, it will probably just make him hungry. The 3 year old is questionable whether or not he will even realize what is going on. But the 6 year old definatl understands private parts and what is appropriate and not. How can I teach my children what private parts are and not to show them to others when there is stuff like this on family time TV?
Yes, how will we ever explain “nipples” to our children? Oh the pain and the horror. How will ever make them understand, because once they see nipples that will lead to drugs, and that can lead to dancing!
How about we tell them the truth? Some very bad people, made Jannet Jackson feel bad about showing her titties?
Yankin’!

So the Janet Jacksons of the world should determine when we explain things like nipples to our children?
nope, but parents who’s children don’t understand what nipples are, are doing their children a disservice.
keep in mind as well that there are lots of cultures in which upper nudity is legal. These countries have not become Sodom or Gamora. In fact, things like this, don’t even phase parents or children. It’s our own desire to keep our children ignorant of biological functions that leads to millions of dollars being wasted on court costs to procecute someone like Janet.
I wouldn’t be saying anything if Janet had done this in another country. I realize different cultures do things differently. However, in America we have laws that say you can’t show a nipple on prime time broadcast tv. These laws were created because people like me don’t want our children seeing this stuff. If you want to argue that children should see nipples then that is an entirly differebt argument.
what are you afraid will happen to your kids, should they have seen Janet’s nipple for the 3 seconds it was on the screen, less than 1cm in diameter (on a 27" screen), amongst all of the other stuff going on?
Shouldn’t you be more concerned about the song they were singing? I want to get you nekkid?
talk about not seeing the forrest for the trees…
