anyone see Halloween scripted and directed by Rob Zombie?
I saw it, and I thought it was better than the original. Rob Zombie is gonna be a big time director as long as he sticks to what he knows and doesn’t pretend to know how to write a comedy. If he sticks to horror, he’ll be greater than John Carpenter and Wes Craven combined!
I love how he decided to explain how Michael Myers grew up and how he progressed into the psychopath that we all know and love. The original just had this little tiny kid with a knife, no real understanding. The new one gives you the backstory and it’s amazing, you almost sympathize with his killings, you almost say “ya, see that’s why he’s messed up, that guy deserved it” and honestly, maybe I’m messed up too, but his first human killing, I was thinking this exactly.
Movie was great, wasn’t too scary though, although for someone at my age and who has seen most of the big horror movies from the past 2 decades, nothing will be too scary anymore. I liked how Rob Zombie stuck to the ‘rules’ of horror movies:
-The killer will appear supernatural at the pinnacle of the movie (Micheal Myers takes a few gunshots and a few stabbings and falls from the second story of his old house, and still gets up).
-Anyone who commits sin or is a sinner dies (most of the kids who have sex underage and unmarried die).
-someone always survives to tell the tale (and possibly a sequel).
I found the ending very interesting as well, you don’t really see, and your not sure ‘what happens’ at the very end, leaving it open for sequels.
