Hello, world! (introduction)

Greets–

I’ve been “auntialias” since, like, forever, or whenever it was that Bryce first came out (1994). After writing some books on Bryce, someone told me (about 10 years ago), “You should do a book on this new thing that’s just come out, called ‘Flash.’”

I did not.

In fact, it took me 10 years to even learn Flash. Ah well.

This spring, I took an excellent Flash course at Pasadena City College (telling designers how to begin programming in actionscript-- and introducing AS early in the course, rather than as a near-afterthought the last week of class). So, between the class, and many online serches and resources, I’ve been having a love/hate relationship with Actionscript and Flash (I’ve done a bit with PHP, too, so the course wasn’t my initial intro to code). This has been one of my go-to resources.

So… happy to be here. I’ve been learning Flash in order to create lower-file size infographic/screencasts for the how-to section of my website describing how to use digital tools to record, process and archive stories by family members (family history, oral history), but have picked up one paying Flash job so far.

Kudos to Kirupa and/or forum designer for an intro message that says “go introduce yourself” as a default state upon signing up. Good community-building there!
