Help, before i get started

i am starting a new project. i need to plan it out and here is what i have so far.

  1. movie that reads XML file and loads image according to button pushed.
  2. the buttons should be loaded dynamically based on the number of images detected in the XML file. they would be just small boxes that will fade in and set themselves about 5 pixels apart in a grid pattern.
  3. the images also scale the loading box as seen already in here .
  4. each photo will also have a preloader and then fade up when finished loading.
  5. each photo will also have text that will be held in the XML file and shown in dynamic text fields on the stage at the same time that the photo loads.

i have scoured message boards for more info about all of this. i have found some, but not found anything so complete, only bits and pieces. i am attempting to put it all together in one app.

so what am i asking for? point me in a direction here. if you know of a tutorial link it here. let me know what the idea is behind it, is it an array? some function i need?

sorry no tutorial, but i can tell you that what you need to decide is what the xml document is going to look like.

that shouldnt be too hard, =) lemme see what i can whip up according to what you want =) i’ll have a sample Fla Ready for you soon =)

i am working on a format for the XML document right now.

cool, im having a bit of problems with my Jpgs loading, dont know why, but i have the xml part pretty much said and done. I’ll probably finish tonight and just post the Fla for you ro disect =)

Its pretty wild, and some things arnt that effient (i just was trying to get it done fast) but the xml stuff hopefully make sense =)

Not a prob, it gives me an excuse to do Flash, plus its something ive been wanting to do for a while, just haddent had the motivation to do so =)

the code you want to look at is in the “GalleryContainer” … its actionscript on the MC (onLCipEvents)…
