Righto. So I bought an old (but never used) Wacom ArtzII 12x12" tablet off eBay. Everything went really smoothly - the seller was really helpful, the price was good, and it arrived from the US to Australia within a week. Beautiful. So, yesterday evening I unpacked the box and plugged it in… big mistake.
The power adaptor was an American-style one. I, in all my wisdom, grabbed this cheap little plastic adaptor thingo which converts it to an Australian power plug… But it only did that. It didn’t convert the current from 240V to 120V, but merely changed the shape of the plug. So… I got 240V running through this power adaptor which was only made to take 120V… The tablet worked for about 20 seconds, then I heard a loud pop from the powerpoint (not the tablet, the power adaptor), and smelled smoke.
So yeah… Needless to say, the tablet ceased to work thereafter. I tried a gazillion other power adaptors, but it refused to work. I even tried the same American plug, but it didn’t do anything at all any more. Sooooo… I’m guessing I’ve killed something inside the tablet
It takes 9V-12V DC power via an adaptor… That’s all I know.
Is there anything I can do? Can any electronics experts offer any help?
