Here's another strange one

there are now 27 out of the 32 guests with the similar IP’s…

and as EG said, they have been there all day.

Rev

maybe they just reall really like Kirupa

:beam:

well, he had hate mail today… so why not a love fest.

Rev

haha, I’ll ban a few IPs rev =) They may be search engines, and I’m sure they would have gotten whatever they wanted in the past few days they have been around!

EDIT: I just banned all the IPs in that range: 66.196.72.*; one or two bots is ok; 40 or so is not!

47 bots currently cruising the forums…

Rev

I bet it’s something automated, I don’t think anyone would really like to stare at a login page. The thing is, what’s causing it? Inktomi.com, surfing thorugh the forum and viewing nothing…I can only assume that someone tried to search kirupaforum.com as a whole from inktomi’s engine, something along that maybe.

Looks like it is happening from somewhere else…

That’s my IP, Rev, It’s probably my brother surfing as a guest from the other pc.

with 6 IP’s at once?

Neo Trace says it goes thru Dubai, then loses the trace…

Rev

That does sound weird with 6 IPs at once, but look at h88s IP, it is exact except for the last octet.

now they are all gone…

Rev

now there are 7 IP’s with the same basic numbers (including h88), 6 are guests…

Rev

Am not sure why’s that happening, but aren’t DSL connections have a Dynamic IP?

if you have a dynamic IP, then you should still only have 1 IP for each time you connect to your ISP… then it changes when you sign off, and sign on again…

Rev

yeah, (most) DSL connections have dynamic IPs. mine for example is always 138.88.x.x (x’s representing ambiguous numbers). the 88 in my IP would most likely represent my location, or the service’s location, because it is unlikely that Verizon (my service) has a total of only 510 subscribers (255+255=510) in the whole US.

but still, it is only one IP at a time, right?

or should I up my medication…
