Hello! I have been learning actionscript 2.0 for flash MX 2004 pro now for about two weeks (probably less) anyway Im going through a training from the source book on flash now and Its really easy to do it from the book but I get frustrated with a lot of the trial and error I go through with my own apps. Im not done with the book yet I actually have about 3/4 to go but I just wanted to know how long it takes to figure something like that out well.
Thanks
Fidelity
I have a piece of string. How long is this piece of string?
:sigh:
Anyway, it depends on how hard you’re willing to work and how much effort you put into learning it.
well, Im a Junior in high School now and want to do this for a career when I graduate, etc. It was just a question to find out how hard it really is and if there is a lot of trial and error in writing code.
Thanks
Fidelity
trial and error, eh?
i would say that at least half of even any programmer’s coding practice is **trial and error. **anyway, just continue to study and experiement with actionScript and it will become easier. it is just like riding a bike … the more you do it, the better you become.
It’s like driving a car,
You got a feeling after a while…
That’s what PM Dawn sings btw
I like you wanted to do the same and have been learning it now for a year, on and off but if your serious about it then you need to do it religiously every day for about a year. The best thing to do is go through as many tutorials as possible that might be relevant to something that you want to do, otherwise it might put you off learning.
But like ratbaggy said, “How long is this piece of string?” because at the end of the day your learning another language. How long would it take you to learn French or German?
Thats a good way to put it. You never really just have it “learned,” its a process of learning that continues to grow and never really ends. The more you drive a car, the more you learn and the more experienced you become. I’ve been driving for a decade and my driving habits are constantly changing, evolving with time. Same with ActionScripting. Ive been Using ActionScript since Flash 4 (which was atrocious) but have been constantly evolving and learning; even now I’m still learning new things in ActionScript and some people around here affectionately refer to me as the “AS God.”
The more you drive with AS the more you’ll catch on. It can be slow at first; it just takes time. Speed is often dependant on prior experience (whether or not having programmed before and in what languages) and dedication/experimentation.
listen to him! he **IS ** an AS GOD!
does that count as SPAM?
