Hi, I wasn’t sure where to put this. This forum was the best fit.
I’ve nearly completed a website for a client. This is my first business-site of this type and I’d like to get a good idea of how much it’s worth.
I could have charged hourly, but I took some time because the clients weren’t in a hurry and I didn’t write down the total time I spent on it… It was a very slow-paced, informal project.
Now, I have to decide how much to charge and I’ve got a rough figure in mind, but I really need to know what YOU think it’s worth. Here’s what the site is about:
It’s a website for a new and used boat retailer in my local area. They also sell spare parts and offer services related to boats.
The site is written in PHP and comes with an update manager which allows admins to update the content of all pages.
The update manager is secured with a username and password so that only authorized personnel can access it. The features are as follows:
1. Page Updater - There is one for each page in the website; it allows the admin to make changes to the pages of the website. Through it, the admin can use automatically-generated image tags and simplified table tags (the markup has been simplified via php) to embed inside the webpage. The admin can easily copy-paste the tags where they want the image or table to go. Also, the system gives the admin the ability to divide the page using a custom made ‘----’ statement.
**2. Image Manager **- This feature allows the admin to upload images to the server, doing so will make it accessible to every Page Updater. A set of tags is automatically generated for each image, each one has special properties (e.g. right-align, left-align). This system also allows the admin to remove images from the server with just a single click. There is also a “Delete All Images” button available with a confirmation message.
3. Table Manager - This feature allows admins to easily create HTML-formatted tables without knowing anything about HTML and very quickly. The layout and fonts are also automatically formatted. This system also supplies the necessary image tags so that the admin can easily copy-paste/drag-and-drop the tags inside the table cell they want (the layout is a lot like excel). There is also a “delete table” and “delete all tables” option to remove tables from the server.
4. Adminitrator’s Manual - A thorough, step-by-step guide to using the Update Manager, it is over 4000 words in length.
Ok, now, as for the site itself.
Every page in the website can be updated.
The backhand is PHP and MySQL and the front end is HTML, Javascript and CSS. It displays exactly the same in all browsers.
The site has a total of 15 pages. Every page has a unique header bar.
The design is custom-made and easy to alter (thanks to CSS), it has a fixed layout.
Graphics are properly optimized and file size is small.
The site has an icon.
Here’s a sample picture of the website. I haven’t done the background yet so it’s just grey: (The table in the center is just for testing purposes)
So yeah, roughly how much should I charge in US$?
