okay, I reinstalled windows 98 SE, and everything works fine except that I can only get 16 colours and a resolution of 640 x 480.:*( any suggestions?
I haven’t really messed with the insides since we got the machine 'cept to install a CD-writer. Whatever was in there is still there. I’ve tried to change the resolution, but it just won’t let me.
You need to find out which vid card you have installed, then download the correct and newest drivers from the manufacturer.
then it will work…

Sorry, Phil posted at the same time, that was directed at Rev. Yeah I’ve been there, but it just doesn’t give me the options. Can’t change the resolution and either 16 or 2 colours!!

at least then you can see who made it… (I take it you have no software that came with the computer?)
then you can go to the manufacturer’s driver page, and download the closest one (sometimes even the wrong driver works, sometimes it doesn’t).
just for the record, of all the OS’s, I can’t stand W98SE… just too quirky…
