I hate being asked this

So I went to meet with a client today, one of those rare old school clients who insists on meeting in person to show him progress on the designs, and I brought my laptop with me. My - GASP - Toshiba laptop.

You should have seen his face.

“You’re not on a mac? Why not? I thought all designers used macs?” I tried to explain that my computer was just faster, and he kept with this confused, almost skeptical expression, as though I didn’t know what I was talking about.

I HATE this question. It is not the first time I’ve gotten it. In fact, before the meeting today I nearly switched the content onto my mac just to eliminate the question.

Why oh why do people act so surprised that a designer would use a PC??? Seriously, I don’t get it. I have a macbook, but it’s not as fast as my Toshiba. I’ve used Photoshop and Illustrator on my mac all the time, guess what: DOES THE EXACT SAME THING AS ON MY PC.

What am I missing here?
