Icon-wise, what do you think of when you think of (1)Articles, (2)Projects, (3)Community, (4)Account, and (5)Information.
I was thinking (1)sheet of paper, (2)open file cabinet, (3)msn people, (4)msn person, and (5)the letter “i” in a blue circle, respectively.
But… that seems so boring. Any suggestions?
-
Sheet(s) of paper
-
Tools (Screwdrivers/hammers)
-
Msn-type logo (lol)
-
Singular msn-type icon
-
circled question mark
so pretty muhc similar to what you have, remember icons are first an interface tool, not a design tool… they need to reflect what they represent more than they need to look pretty/interesting
lol.
■■■■ you Captain Conformity!! You’ll rue the day you agreed with me!
(1) Open book (2) Building blocks (3)…msn people (4)pictures (it’s a picture uploading site) (5)an upside down exclamation mark
Honestly I wrote those down before I even looked at what you had lol
I bet A List Apart has an article on this.
Just look at the silk icons, they are a great judgment of what icons should probably look at (but they take a while to reproduce the same graphically quality).
What you guys said is the first things that come to mind for me.
Don’t forget rollovers don’t just leave an icon without a rollover description.
//edit, Flash develop uses the block icon for the projects and i think it fits perfectly. If you can do larger than 16x16 do a special folder with different files in it.
A lot of it depends on how your site looks. Your site design plays a big part in what icons you use.
