I’m creating an interactive element to include on my bands new album, containing photo galleries, bonus audio and a video etc.
I have got the main “navigation” file running as a projector and have the rest of the content as SWF files loading into the projector. It all works fine and dandy.
Except the video file (10MB) takes quite a while to load when run from the CD… a preloader is the answer I thought, but someone told me that preloaders won’t work from CD. Is this true??
Also, I need the “minimum specifications” required to run the thing so it can be included on the artwork for the CD and sleeve… what are the min specs for running a projector file (loading in flash v6 SWF files)??
Well, I’ve only just started learning flash, but I burnt a CD to test a preloader on a projector file. It seems to load the mp3 before moving on to the frames in question, rendering a preloader a bit useless.
Hopefully someone knows a way around this.
Good luck with the band, though: it’s a neat promo idea!
I’ve done a project similar to this and the preloaders worked for me and I just used the preloaders similar to the one’s on this site. Also, if your trying to push big videos, what we did was use the Active X object in VB to push the video. Well we actually made an app the launches on load and u can choose what you want to do. It’s pretty tight, I didn’t make the VB app but a buddy in my office did.
I had to learn Flash specifically just for this as we couldn’t afford to pay a professional to look after it. I wish I had more time to look into better ways to deal with the video but the record label is breathing down our necks to get the finished album master to them!
Next I’ve got to worry about getting the thing to work cross-platform… anyone for linux?? :hangover:
