Looking for feedback on a prototype for a jazz/blues band website. Site is functional at this point, though most of the actual content has yet to be fleshed out. Temporary text and buttons (non-functional) are in place.
Please review for general look and feel, navigation, and overall site experience. Band is looking for a style that conveys the more somber feeling of their blues tunes as well as the more upbeat big band/jazz style music they write and perform. The vintage theatre stage concept was developed and approved by the band.
Also, the logo choice has yet to be made. The client can temporarily cycle through five logo options by clicking on the logo itself. Logo version indicator at lower left is also temporary, for client review purposes.
Band feels close to half their fan base will be using dial-up connections, so site is small - around 200k - out of necessity. Initial sections will be part of the main movie, as shown; second-tier sections will load into the main movie externally, also using the curtain transition.
Any opinions and constructive feedback would be appreciated. Looking for input on the site in general, though thoughts on logo versions are welcome as well.

Butters, I may work in some background music as the site develops, or some type of element to automatically play the music.
Laslett, thanks for the Aussie-style input. I thought it had that feel (western/American) but also more of an old vaudeville type of feel too. But I appreciate the input - still haven’t heard back from the client.
hey bud. i really like the site. cool idea and concept. something kind of doesnt sit right with me. im not completely sold on the text used for the main navigation. being a jazz site and the stage look with an early 40’s microphone is giving me an 40’s, 50’s 60’s jazz club, cigar, big band feel. the font in the navigation is giving me a saloon bar feel and i think this clashes conceptually. i think a more sinatra feeling font would really bring it together.

I was thinking that typeface was the kind of face you’d see in old posters at a theatre, maybe hanging backstage from an even earlier era, like vaudeville times, but I’m now thinking that’s just not going to work for this layout, as a few people have mentioned the typeface. I’m still waiting to hear from the band, but I’ll probably at least offer them another option. I appreciate the feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed the rest of the site - when an update is made, I’ll re-post the link. Thanks,
