Personally, I hate it. I can see how college kids would like it, but to me, it looks like some cheap grunge that is about to be outdated.
I wish they would’ve done something like they did for their other client Wake Forest Law. http://law.wfu.edu/
What do you guys think? Am I overreacting or am I justified in thinking this new site design is a hideous piece of crap?
I take you work for the college? I to work for a college and are currently in the process of working with an outside vendor on our web site. I think the designs are not bad, but not good…
In my case many of the “powers above” me are making the decision and disregard your imput/expertise and go with the design that makes no sense from a design and usability point.

Same exact thing is happening here.
Edit: I wonder who provides them with the “statistics” they make their hundred thousand dollar decisions on…
The vendor had a “search & find” phase, and gathered input from every department and it’s people. And those people are well the Aristocrats and have become experts in design, but what do I know I’m just a pezant.
Thats actually pretty decent. I work for a university (we are updating the whole site in less than a year to a new more professional design)… but that looks better than my universities current site.
[whisper]I don’t work for any of the front pages I work for the online programs section… we have a very strict template for all the pages, can’t wait for the cms though should make life way easier[/whisper].
