I saw this at US. The attention to detail is sensational :stunned:
Stats:
Illustration Stats - Size: 36" @ 350 dpi, 640 mb CMYK File with 35 Layers / Illustration Time: 720 hrs.
Software: Line Art - Adobe Illustrator, Color - Adobe Photoshop
woah.
35 layers??
My old pixelart-battle entry was 150+ layers, and no NEAR as detailed… his image looks more like 3,5 million layers…
begins drooling
:!:
woahhh that crazy:crazy:
my illustrator would of crash about 50 million times before i could do that (btw i think this is line art=illustrator, not pixel art eilsoe)
whoa…
wow, that is good!
Wow, great work there :o
[size=1]By the way Krusader … do I recognize any footer similarities ?[/size]
I’ve seen this before, it’s absolutely amazing. And 720 hours is crazy, although I couldn’t do this in a lifetime…
and Voets, it’s ok… your footer is cooler anyway
Layers don’t nessesarily matter. He could’ve put a whole room full of chairs and tables and whatnot it one layer…
He just has to be extremly careful about not clicking over other objects and ruining them.

I have never seen the nsx. But I have definately seen some photoreal illusrator work. I would love to start a project like this. And woek on it at my leisure. Real inspiring stuff.
Hey…lol. Voets that footer looks like yours.
Illustration Time: 720 hrs.
:stunned:
Which is why this guy probably has a nice big house, and 2 cars, and spends his free time on one of those boats.
[edit]
yet it still took 9 hours for a G4 to export the file
[/edit]
OKay, when my computer takes 9 hours to do anything, I know I’m in trouble…
this article is just full of moments that make me go: :stunned:
[/edit]
I could do that… maybe not as good and maybe not as fast… but I could do that.
What is really amazing (aside from the obvious) is all that detail and it’s only 650Megs in total size. I do a lot of hi-res illustrations and photo manipulations and I’m lucky to be able to get it under 1gig, and that’s a 300dpi. A guy I work w/ now does these on the side so I’m fortunate and have seen these done in person, and his are like 2gigs… crazy stuff.
On a side note:
You all notice how he’s on a MAC right? That’s cause MACs own and apps don’t crash like crazy
… stupid Winblows
no more mac fanboys please
Good thing about this is there are plugins to help and must not have been available when this dude did his. Like cadtools, prespective and a few others. I think I am going to attempt a photoreal illustrator project sometime in the near future. I was hoping someone would start a battle on this so it will give me more incentive and inspiration.
the cruise ship layout was fantastic… I got a serious flashback…
I use to work for Royal Carribean…
cool detail on the images tho
gp
That is some pretty amazing work. I can’t even really begin to understand how that is done. Created in vector, transformed into photoshop? Nope, that is well beyond my scope of things here in the graphics design world.
I guess my question is why not create this in a 3D program like C4D or Maya?
I think I would have attempted in 3d. But even that would have taken a long time. And his render time would have equalled his export time…lol.
Only the outlines were done in Illustrator, so he could color in the lines. And then colored in PS.
Why create it in a 3D program? He’s a traditional, technical artist… it takes muuuch more skill to do it traditionally than it does to flop it into a LAME
3D program. I mean really where is the skill involved in that?
Side note:
I just got back from my cruise to the Bahamas, on Royal Caribbean… how I loved it  :hangover:
