I mean per month…
I paid over $1,000.00 per month to go for 10 months (without any degree whatsoever)…
I could go to a state school for a lot cheaper…
but then again, it was over quickly…

So… the person that can tell us what line art really is seems to be Kit
yeah she would know. I tell you, some of those brits are mean, kit is an exeption though, they were screaming at me on LIVE today…tisk tisk, but it was also like 1 AM there so…but the words “bloody” and the other 2 “b” words were thrown at me a lot…
Brits are mean? Heck no! I love them Brits! Actually I love everyone except “Americans.” And as far as college goes - I know this: going to a university is NOT about studying.
Anyway - this is going nowhere. I still think line art = vector art!
…unless…
now does line art = when people sketch something then scan and trace/color over it whereas vector art is something done completely from scratch and only in illustrator or freehand? Pencil tool? Who uses that? What about gradients? Aren’t Gradients “un-line-like” and so if I use a gradient fill, is my art still considered line or vector art, even if it’s done in Illustrator? And how do effects play a role in this? What if I use a blur effect on my shapes - does it still fall in the realm of vector or line?
Bueller? Bueller?
im just curious, do they have british gangsta rap?
lol that has always puzzled me, with like the english accent and all
Good Question Kaotic, I would sure hope not, because we don’t need anymore of that around.
And Ren… don’t go by what I say, the only vector program I use is Flash… so we need someone who is a vector artist to clear this up.
And well… I think that would be you Ren… you do vector art right?
I dabble here and there… stuff I’m much to embarrass to show anyone. I use Illustrator, create from scratch, and I use a lot of gradients and blur effects. Previously I would refer to this as “vector” art. Maybe I will post my current unfinished project…
How about this: Line art is the STYLE, but it is only vector art if you can resize it with no consequence to the quality?
I do alot of vector art almost everything of mine starts off in vector. I use fireworks and freehand. There are certain things that you can do that will make the object no longer vector. Like filters those change it to bitmaps. bitmaps=not vector art. I think the final state it lies in makes it vector or what ever. I think everyone uses vectors just dont realize it. If you create a box it is basically vector unless you snatch theose properties from it. Where I was confused was I thought line art used the PENCIL tool. Exclusively. In which I was going to give mad props to that individual. I cant do squat with that tool.
My hypothesis: Line art is vector art and vector art is line art with a twist. If the end result (before compression and conversion to jpg…) cannot be resized without image loss it is not vector. Wow I really caused a fiasco here. sorry folks.
In closing there is no substitute for college or a recognized accredited institution. The other routes require more footwork to get jobs and stuff. And you will often lose out to college grads unless your portfolio kicks major A$$
Ok, so I think we established what we think is the difference between Vector and Line Art…lol.
It sounds right to me.
we still need kit to doubble check this…
And here I am.
Must have missed this thread completely, sorry. Would have joined in earlier if I had noticed. Doh.
Anyway, my definition of line art is a drawing that has been constructed with lines on a computer. No filters, effects, rendering or fancy tools involved. It can be either traced or drawn ‘freehand’. But I think the main point about it is there is no graduation in colours. A line art piece is made up of blocks of solid colour.
It also does come under the umbrella of vector artwork, as generally the programs that are best for making it are all vector based programs. I think this is why line art works so well. Because there are no gradient fills or bits and pieces, the image will resize perfectly for you…
In fireworks you can fill your vector shape with a gradient and it will still hold its resize without degradation properties. But I do agree with adding effects since once you do that it automatically turns the object into a bitmap
I’d forgotton about Fireworks. Oops.
That description is how I think of line art in it’s purest form, anyway. I enjoy playing with it.
Same with Illustrator - gradients and filtered shapes can still remain in vector form and be manipulated and resized with no sacrifice to quality.
whats this i hear about Brits and Rap? and why is it that the accents suddenly dissapears when anyone starts singing? like that group S Club 7…or Spice Girls… :sure: :sure: =)
but, what this have anything to do with this thread:q:
:chinaman:
:beam:
ok ok ok…lemme get it back on Track…
Line Art is Good :beam:

Doh, I forgot that as well. Never mind, I think we’ve all got the general idea anyway. Despite my omitting to mention stuff.
So, to conclude:
Line art good.
Spice Girls bad.
Spice Girls are VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD!!!
