Hey everyone,
Mariofan PM’ed me asking me if he can write some Illustrator tutorials. I replied and said that I’ll discuss this with you all and then decide. While at one time we were planning on taking the image editing/photoshop route, the site is heading more toward Web Scripting.
I am afraid that if he does do Illustrator tutorials, it will not get as much attention as some of the Flash or (soon to be) Web Scripting tutorials.
well, Web Scripting is integral to some circumstance to flash as illustrator may as well be. the only problem with adding this tutorial to this site is that people may not read it because they wouldn’t expect such a tutorial on a flash-focused site. for the good of the current community, his tutorial would be a good addition because we know it’s there, so i’m kind of split on the decision. do we have any other tutorial on your site that has nothing to do with flash?
But think about it, posting the tutorial will do us more good than harm. What do we have to lose by putting it on there, well I am not so sure, because then kirupa has to add to the site’s navigation to add a graphics section. . . .
I think it is an excellent idea. Illustrator is a huge part of the design world, and having some tutorials on the prog will do nothing but enhance the site…
I’m all for it, but didn’t we decide that there woudn’t be PS tutes on this site? So if we don’t have PS tutes, I don’t see why we’d have Illustrator tutes…
Pom, if eilsoe would like to host it and mariofan agrees, I have no problem with linking to eilsoe’s site. I haven’t seen his tutorial yet, and no doubt he’s busy being a new father and all
A little late maybe, but I say an “Other” section would be good to have. I know this is a Flash oriented site, but design is also a big part of building Flash sites, and a lot of people use PS and Illustrator to do that. So I think it would be a good idea.
Heh, I’ve got a cell shading tute on my site if that’s any help?

**hehe yeah - I bet Supree won’t be too happy **
Well who cares about supree, no one likes supree.
Besides, suprees tutorial was common sense for anyone that knows how to tween. Alexs’ tutorial went over how to create a basic tween for beginners, and anything after that involving tweening is just common sense
Are there any other beginners level tutes that could be written? I’ve mentioned this on Random, but in case people don’t see…
Things like drag and drop - that crops up quite a bit in the Flash forums. I’ve got some programs that would really help with that (I think), so would that kind of thing help out?
I would rather have basic tutorials on any topic belonging in the Web Scripting (soon to be Web Technologies) section instead, but anything that can be added to the site including Flash tutorials is great!
