Hello,
I’m running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, with 2 gigs of memory. After getting attacked by a virus, my computer started to behave strangely. When memory intensive applications are running, the computer runs so slowly that the mouse has a significant delay and low update rate, and audio doesn’t stream properly. Even when no programs are running, the computer is somewhat slow. When doing something particularly heavy on the memory, such as exporting or converting a file, the computer’s update rate goes drastically down, and the computer eventually turns off (depending on the amount of memory being used).
The virus I mentioned was removed, but I fear that a part of it lingers on, and that is what is eating up all the memory.
Any suggestions?
