My Apple Rant

Ok in the past couple of years, lets take a look at what I’ve had to send to Apple to get repaired or replaced because of their dumb mistakes.

**Dual 1.25ghz G4 Tower
**Power supply failed, sent it in, without it for a couple weeks. Its my parents home computer and before I got a laptop I was all over it.

17 Inch Apple Display
One day half of the backlight decided it didnt want to work anymore. In it goes to Apple! … Yes… Half of it broke

My 15 Inch Powerbook G4

  • One week after I bought it brand new, my “E” key kept popping off. In it goes to Apple!!
  • 4 months later, oh look! My backlight doesn’t work anymore! In it goes to Apple!!! WHeeeeee!! this is getting fun!!!
  • I had to do the Battery Replacement Program because the battery wasn’t holding a charge beyond an hour and a half if I just let it sit there and did no Photoshop or anything like that…

My 3rd Generation 20Gb iPod

  • Hold switch never worked, sent it into apple, got a brand spanking new Refurbished iPod… More on THAT bit of wisdom later!
  • Of course the battery was crap, it didn’t last more than an hour so I send it in and get another brand spanking new Refurbished iPod (And I’m not glorify-ing any of this)
    **
    My dad’s 15 inch Powerbook**
  • Nothing gone wrong with it yet, strange because my laptop which is about a year newer, has failed left and right!

**2Gb iPod Nano
**After finally giving up on the 3rd Gen iPod I sold it to my lady friend after painting the back of it and replacing the battery with a new Sonnett one.
I introduced the Nano into my warm Apple family. But this past monday after a day of painting this mural (used it the entire time) the click wheel decided it didnt want to function AT ALL anymore.

Two days later (Today) its starting to come back, intermitently (sp?) with it not being functional about 90% of the time.

So, if Apple is charging its loyal customers about 30-40% more than competing companies, why are their products not 30-40% better!?

I know things go wrong, but EVERY PIECE OF APPLE TECHNOLOGY I’VE OWNED OR USED IN MY HOUSEHOLD IN THE PAST 4 YEARS HAS BROKEN AT SOME POINT OR ANOTHER.

On the up side, every time something HAS gone wrong its been covered by their warrenty, and I haven’t had to pay a single cent beyond shipping the last time I sent my 3rd Gen iPod in.

Why can’t Apple products function as good as they look? That doesn’t make ANY SENSE. They’ve probably lost billions in faulty iPods and other stupid little problems like faulty laptop batteries.

…Which brings me to my next point… what the hell is wrong with Apple and batteries??? Can they NOT just use GOOD batteries from the outset? I mean, a battery is a pretty pivotal piece of technology for iPods and laptops, you’d think they would have your back on this front… I guess not!

Oh, and if you DO send an iPod into Apple, expect a shiney new case filled with the innards of some poor soul’s old iPod. Thats right, they send back refurb iPods.
Lets look at the logic behind that. Bob sends in his iPod for whatever reason, but there is definately something wrong with it. So, what do they do? they look over the iPod, determine something is in fact wrong, and throw it into their discard dumpster (Which has to be pretty ****ing big)
and they chuck a refurb into the shipping box, WHICH they can’t gaurentee the performance of at all because it is USED, so most likely 3 months down the road the wonderful Apple Repair Goblin is just going to see that little iPod once again because it will most likely fail on Bob again.

**My message to Apple:
**GET OFF YO’ ACES!!!

**My message to potential Apple buyers:
**ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS BUY APPLECARE
Its the ONLY way you cant stick it to them when your hardware fails.

-Keep in mind, OS X is the balls diggler when it comes to operating systems, its solid as a rock, as is all of the other apple software. If only they wouldn’t fill their hardware with Fischer Price transistors and capacitors.
