Ok, I’ve been using apple computers for almost six years now.
I have two laptops and one of these gave me a little problem with the screen , but everything went fine after apple intervention.
Later I had the PowerBook which I have been using for three years now without any problem.
The only thing I have to complain that whenever I had to deal with accessories for my computer I had to crash upon the crude reality of Apple policy. For each accessory you want to buy you have to pay 5 times the real price of it. As I’m tired of telling this story I’m recurring to a probably inappropriate metaphor here it is:
Imagine you’re a chef and you just bought a new oven, everything works great and you can bake perfect textured cakes and gratins. After a couple of months one of the handles breaks, you go to the shop to get a new one and you’re charged one tenth of the price of the whole oven. ‘Well’ you think, ‘it’s quite expensive but I have a catering service coming soon so i’ll buy it’. After a few months the handle breaks again, you’re still as busy as the first time so you go and buy another one but you start looking for alternatives in case it happens again. In fact just two months later the handle breaks again, you start even questioning your inability to turn something but then you decide to go for an alternative. You buy it on ebay, it arrives a little later but in the end it works, you’re happy for having saved some money and start cooking again blueberry deliciousnesses.
Needless to say, the new alternative handle seems to have the same lifespan then the previous original one. As you can take back the oven because the warranty expired you start yelling a Germanish language and try to turn the oven on with your screwdiver nearly causing an explosion.
Now I demand you, today I have a job interview (this was a nice turning point being without a job for weeks) but yesterday my power adapter for my PowerBook 15’’ Aluminium ceased to exist again (it was the 3rd one).
Have you ever had this issue with these adapters? On the relative Apple webpage is full of negative comments.
For an alternative I looked on ebay, amazon and other places and the only thing I found was a Macally. Have you heard about it? Do you have suggestions?
