While I do agree that the east has some very strong teams this year, I dont’ see the raptors are just being an “average” team.
We have Vince Carter, Jalen Rose, Chris Bosh & Donyell Marshal - all possible all-stars. That’s not to mention MoPete, Alvin Williams, Skip to my Lou. We also have some up in comers in Roger Mason Jr, Rafael Araujo (I hope!) and Pape Sow.
Don’t get down on the Raps just yet… and yes, I am an optimist when it comes to the Raptors!
but i think every team in the east has 3-4 “possible all-stars”, with the exceptions of atlanta and charlotte. but i just don’t think toronto’s roster has changed enough yet to make them a good team.
i’m not getting down on you b/c i know what it’s like to root for the underdog (look at the posts during the finals). i do actually think the raptors are good enough on paper to make the playoffs. they just have to produce.
IMO: Carter has yet to show any real leadership in Toronto and that injury isn’t making it any easier. He’s a good player but I don’t know if he’s that good.
He keeps getting voted into the AllStar game because people want to see his dunks; He has become known for his dunks and only his dunks, and that’s the problem… he needs to show that he can do other things as well and stay consistent with those things.
yeah, he hasn’t shown any leadership. i think he has all the talent. he can shoot the 3 (38.2%), pass (4.8 apg), and can obviously drive. but he still turns the ball over too much (3.1 topg). but he, unlike other stars in the nba, has not been able to will his team to victory.
