Offspring

Yeah, they are funny guys.

I just have to listen to some now. Lucky for me, I have a few tracks (Keep 'Em Separated, Dirty Magic, Denial Revisited) here at work… :beam:

I voted powerpop (I usually call it pop-punk, but sounds like the same thing) along with blink 182 et al.

you compare Blink 182 with the almighty Offspring? :bad:

Grr… I shall smite thee…

“The Offspring” was there there first disc in 89 and was totaly punk and totaly kicked ***.

“Ingnition” was there second disc in 92 and was very punk

“Smash” was there third in 95 and one of may favorite discs. Some very good punk music which managed to be picked up in the main stream wihtout changing there sound. Still punk and still kickass.

“Ixnay on the Hombre” 97 punk.

“Americana” 98. Some good punk quality songs but with a diffenrt sound form before and your lets sell some recoreds “Pretty fly for a white guy” and “Why don’t you get a job”

“Conseracy of One” 2000 they try to get back to more of a punk sound but still ahve the lets sell records song “Original prankster”.

Each disc is amazing in in its own way. Back in the day they where an amzing punk band but have went to making these really markatable songs instead of selling there punk sound. I’ve been listen to them sence my Broter gave the there first disc and noticed large change over the loyal years of buying every disc. They still make punk music but they dont’ sell it. They sell there mainstream songs.

They are not punk pop and never compare them to blink 182 who where never really punk.

The Offspring are a punk band that are selling a more alternative mainstream sound. I’m jsut glad they have kept some punk songs on there discs for the true fans.

And the thing is, they’ve lasted and will last a lot longer than any of these manufactured groups like Westlife or the Pop Stars Rivals ones…

A darn sight better music too.

Yeah, I LUV offspring like crazy. But now my parents think they are some sort of cult after reading the lyrics and stuff… sometimes people need freedom to listen to what they think is best. :m:

I dunno if you can consider The Offspring as POP … you have to be the flavor of the week, then burn-out. They’ve been in town for a while (although their older stuff was much better).

I say alternative is the genre, because they’re not totally rock, they’re not totaly “pop”, and the label punk is mis-used very often.
