Should have kept it inside. You learn a few things coming up in the 'hood.
Happened to me twice growing up, the first time, my Mom payed some other kids to steal it back, the second time we caught the bastard riding it around and ■■■■ near ran him down to get it back. Maybe the first option could work, find rival thieves.
How many times must I advocate packing heat on this forum? Had you been armed, you could’ve shot one of the tires out, thus preventing their escape.
We had a breakin last time we went to Malaysia. F**kkers stole computer, tv, stereo the ****. And we live in a really good neighborhood too. With 2 locked “gate” doors apart from our own door.
Strongly suspecting landlord but nothing came out of it. Cops didn’t find anything.
Its amazing to me how people’s computers (especially the nice MBPs) don’t even get touched by anyone in my school after they just sit on the floor in a random hallway for hours, and sometimes days…
Wow that does honestly blow. I guess it’s not just the bike but the fact that people living around you stole it. You gonna get a new one if you can’t get this back?
My really old holland-bike got stolen in front of the house i live in. I also have a newer one, but I kept using it from time to time (as well as temporarily removed spare parts for my newer bike).
The lock wasn’t working correctly for some time. One day, I couldn’t open the lock (probably some sand got inside, at least it felt like that when trying to insert the key), so I had to cut each strain of wire of the lock open with side cutting pliers, which is a kind of an exacting work (took me 15 minutes).
Since i live on the 5th floor (staircase, no elevator) I decided to replace the lock next thing in the morning.
Next morning my bike was gone.
I hope the person who took it drove away on the bike, since the house is on a hill and the bike literally had no breake units by that time.

Yeah, I’m already shopping around for a new one. I’m honestly just super disappointed.
And to everyone that says I should have locked it up, yeah I should have but this is the situation:
I live in a house built in the late 1800s, it’s a huge house and you have to walk up a huge set of stairs to get to the porch which is right next to the living room with a big window which I was right next to. I had just gotten back from an errand and it was sitting there (in a corner, it’s a big porch).
There’s a lot of things that I would think would be mental blocks for thieves at my place, super inconvenient to steal from from. These idiots just happened to be extra stupid and extra lucky.
I’m watching Craigslist and everything, but unfortunately I just moved here from out of state so I don’t know anyone to look out for these little morons. I hope they all get hit by individual mac trucks.
Also to the blowing out the tire with a gun comment. Seriously? Like I could aim a handgun well enough to hit a moving target 100 yards away in the dark and hit a rode bike tire and not accidentally shoot someone? No.

there is no such thing as too inconvenient for thieves, if its there for the taking, consider it took
I don’t care how good your aim is, trying to hit the skinny little tire of a bike weaving back and forth as it speeds away - as opposed to nailing the punk riding it - is not easy, and you won’t have a fun job explaining how you shot some kid in the back because he stole your bike. (Yay for prison.)
That’s just such a bummer about the bike. Do you have renters insurance or anything?
Ha, I doubt Dan was serious. But even so, regardless of aim, there’s no justifiable reason for using a gun against unarmed little bike thieves. Doesn’t matter if you hit the tire, the kid, somebody else, or nothing - you’re still going to jail for shooting a gun in a situation like that.
