Comments, critiques, whatever welcome. Rip it to shreds if you like.
I’m going for a minimalist approach.
The “about” section will have more stuff eventually, as will the “work” page.
It’s not bad tbh. Just seems a little… congested and constipated really.
Increase line height.
Increase the size of your logo/site name
Increase the font size for the nav and I’d say decrease the height of the nav buttons as well.
Increase the font size overall as well.
Use a better shade of green. This is too neon and doesn’t really please the reader.
The “shadow” under your header is broken on the edges. Fix it.
The image links in your sidebar have no sense of harmony or rhythm. Re-arrange them properly.
If this is your first try, I’d say it isn’t bad.
Also, why are there all those links under “Great blogs to read”? Are you associated with them in anyway? For eg.: Larissa Meek and all? Plus, what I found really funny was that names like Elliott Jay Stock, Larissa Meek and Smashing Mag were in the same list as icanhascheeseburger.

Excellent. Good feedback. All of those items I was thinking almost the exact same thing.
The blog links are just random ones I read and thought they’d be good if anyone happens to stumble upon the site. If I’m not associated with them, should I kill it? I just thought it might be a good resource for people.
lol, I thought it was funny to have I Can Has Cheezburger on there. I’m eventually going to remove it.
I really like the header and footer, although I agree with Phenex that your logo should be a bit bigger. The rest of it seems pretty standard and bloggy, though.
Agree with Phenex on almost everything.
I like the neon green. It’s probably the only thing that makes your site pop out.
Also, I’d add more to the footer A List Apart has a good article in Content on sprucing it up.
Maybe put header_2 to touch the top or at least border the top with a darker shade of green or something. I dunno, play with that part.
I’d make the logo a lot larger and put it to the left of the nav and move the nav down a little bit, it’s far away from the content and takes a little more effort to browse through site because of it.
Text is very small, hard to read and also seems fuzzy - maybe change the color to make it a tad darker.
I think you really have to focus on weighting the elements in a size hierarchy that relates to importance. The content really should dominate, so crank it up, and give it more tonal value than everything else.
Nice site. Anyway, I’m more curious about your photography. That second shot of Boston you took, are you using a star filter to get those light bursts or is that natural? It looks great. What lens are you using?
