Photoshop question

How do you use the shear filter to make lines with the pen tool?

Cmon guys, you cant all be morons!

Hm, I can’t remeber that filter, you would have to find the german translation first

i really don’t see how shear has anything to do with the pen tool. what kind of effect are you looking for?

hey morse check this thread out
http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20303&perpage=10&highlight=stroke in photoshop&pagenumber=1

at the end shows how to create strokes in photoshop, and there is a little on the shear tool as well.

I really don’t think the shear tool is the one for the job. I find that the pen tool is by far the best for creating and manipulating curved lines.

to each his own

let me know if you want me to post about how to use the oen tool, i haven’t searched kyrupa and i don’t know any sites or i would link you

grass13 did you look at the thread link i posted? At the end cutnedge and I have a method using pen tool to create curved strokes in photoshop. I wasent saying use the shear tool, as i’m providing a link to the pen tool method.

ah, i missed that part, my bad

thats kool dude  you got any thing to add to that method? , maybe another way?

the best way i’ve found to use the pen tool to make controlled curved lines is to first make a straight line that goes from beginning to end of where you want your curved line. then add control points and drag out vector lines from the new control points. if you need to you can even adjust one vector point at a time by holding ctrl and alt and clicking on the box at the end of the line. once you have your curve the way you want it, click the tool you want to use to stroke the path you’ve just created. you can use the pen tool, the pencil tool, the rubber stamp tool the eraser tool, the smudge blur and sharpen tools, you can probly use the history brush too but i haven’t checked. then once you’ve selected the tool you want to stroke with, click the small button at the bottom of the path pallete that has an unfilled circle drawn with a solid line. this will stroke the path with whatever tool you’ve selected on whatever layer you have selected.

sorry to go on an on but i wanted to be thurough…

nice, pretty much the same way. if you want to check which tools you can use to stroke it , look in the paths options tab, and go to stoke path, it give you a menu of tools on which you want to use to stroke the path.
