Hi, we keep having power outages in our area and my wife works from home. We have comcast cable and my wife works on a laptop running off a linksys broadband wireless router. Can someone recommend a UPS that can hold at least 2hrs of power for internet/pc after a power outage? I am looking on newegg but a $159 shows it can only hold power for 30min, which is not enough.
Yea most UPS systems are only made to hold power till the unit has time to shut down (our server at work has one that lasts 30min). For a laptop drawing 65 watts and a router thats probably at like 40 watts. I would say you can stretch that 30minutes out for a while.
//edit, I don’t know enough about conversions of watts and such to figure out how long that would last (probably not 2hours). Why are you losing power so much?
Not sure why the neighborhood is loosing power, I guess from the heat?.. I actually have a APC backup connected to my desktop but it has DSL input, I am not sure if a cable modem cable would work with that?
