HI guys,
I got a problem with the sublayer masking in Flash MX. I did the sublayer masking using Spotlight in Flash and hosted in the web using dreamweaver MX. It works well with Internet explorer, Netscape Navigator 7.0 in mac. When I tried to load the same page with flash content (.asp page) I could not get the sublayer masking working properly in Netscape 6.0 in mac and Mozilla. I dont know why it is the case. Instead of the spotlight rolling over the image and showing the masked image it shows both masking and masked image seperately in Netscape 6.0 and Mozilla and I could not see the spotlight at all. Tell me how to go about it.
Thank you guys,
Bye,
Murali
Happy flashing…
you should try posting in the design section or the coding section of this site. that sounds like a problem with your html / asp code rather than flash
but maybe i misunderstood your question. i’m not exactly sure what you mean by sublayer masking.
anyway … if you rephrase the question and i can think of an answer i’m more than happy to help =)
hi shuga,
Iam attaching the fla file I created in Flash MX. That has a skeleton image and a human masked connected with a spotlight if u upload the same in netscape 4 or lower versions it does not work where as it works in netscape 7. It does not work in mozilla either. Kindly try uploading the swf file in the web and try to access it through mozilla or netscape 4 and let me know why its not working.
sadly the only browsers i have here at work are netscape 4.75 and I.E. 6 … it works fine in both of those. And even if it didn’t I cna’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t work in those browsers.
Macromedia makes seperate plugins for flash for seperate browsers. I would go to www.macromedia.com and go to the downloads section and get the plugin for your desired browser.
If that doesn’t work I don’t know what to tell you.
The actions you have performed are contained within the flash movie … meaning you’re not sending any variables, so if the browser has the flash plugin and works with other flash movies, it should work with that.
Also you should try inserting your swf file into an html document and running it in the browser of your choice. sometimes I have problems with running just an swf file by itself in a browser
i hope this helps
