Publishing your site

Hey Kirupa…

As you know, Im not a frontpage user. My company says I can develop with any tool I want, as long as I publish with Frontpage. (something to do with Frontpage server extensions)

Do you know how I could publish to an IIS server without using the Frontpage program itself? What does frontpage use to publish?

btw… Im more of a Dreamweaver person.

Hey Iammontoya,
You can use any FTP program. As long as you have a username/password that you use to log-in using FrontPage, you can use any FTP program.

Cheers!

I was reading my question, and it sounds really stupid. I know that you can publish using FTP. It was a poorly constructed question.

Here’s the real deal (sorry, dude)
My co. says we can use whatever we want to use to develop, as long as we use Frontpage to publish. I dont want to use Frontpage to publish. What can I use as ammo to win that war?

When I asked about what does frontpage use to publish… I meant what technology is the underlying technology for the Publish with Frontpage (not the FTP option). Is it WebDav? Proprietary? What?

Whew… that was it. Sorry for the idiotic description at first.

Hmm - I have no idea what FrontPage uses to publish. I never use FrontPage’s Publish feature anyway. I simply open the site using the FrontPage Folders View and copy and paste files like I would to files in my hard drive.

I’ll try to find some info and post it once I find it

Cheers!

You know… now that I think about it, as I was scanning for hosting services and such, I noticed a lot of them say “Support for Frontpage Extensions”.

I never really understood that, is that sorta what your situation is Montoya?
